The IACAC Mentorship Program is a great way for new and experienced members of the profession to connect, share ideas and support one another. It's also a lot of fun! To be a Mentor you need to have three or more years of professional experience, a willingness to mentor a new professional and the desire to have fun and make a difference. Mentees have less than three years of professional experience, a desire to grow and learn within the profession while learning ways to get involved within the profession. Professionals can participate as a mentor but also have a mentee. Partnerships can be requested if you meet the qualifications of a mentor but would also like to have a mentee. Please note that partnerships don’t have to be within your own field, they can be between college admission and high school counseling. Applications will be reviewed by the Professional Development Committee and partnerships will be formed based on available mentors and mentees. Even though the majority of the responsibility lies with the participants, you are not completely on your own! Future events will be planned for mentors and mentees to connect in a social setting. More information on the program will be presented at the 2012 IACAC Spring Meeting and more information will be available on the IACAC website by late April of 2012.
